Job Description: Interior Horticulturist & Nursery, Retail Sales Associate

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Interior Horticulturist & Nursery, Retail Sales Associate. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, and expert plant and gardening advice, while maintaining a visually appealing and well-stocked nursery. You will contribute to the successful operation and growth of our business by driving sales and fostering long-lasting customer relationships.

plus, you will receive hands-on training in the industry from a nationally recognized horticulturist with over 40 years of experience.


Responsibilities:

1. Customer Service:
- Greet and assist customers in a friendly, professional manner.
- Actively listen to customers' needs, provide knowledgeable plant and gardening advice, and guide them toward suitable products.
- Offer outstanding customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving customer concerns, and ensuring overall customer satisfaction.

2. Sales and Merchandising:
- Achieve and exceed sales goals by proactively engaging with customers and promoting products effectively.
- Maintain a clean and organized nursery, including restocking shelves, arranging displays, and monitoring inventory levels.
- Collaborate with the team to implement merchandising strategies to enhance the visual appeal and optimize sales potential.

3. horticultural Expertise: (We will teach this part) 
- Demonstrate a strong knowledge of plants, including their care, growth characteristics, and common diseases.
- Provide advice on plant selection, placement, and maintenance to customers.
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of nursery plants, ensuring their health and vitality.

4. Cash Handling and Administrative Tasks:
- Accurately process customers' transactions through a point-of-sale (POS) system, handling cash, and credit card payments efficiently.
- Assist with inventory management, including receiving and stocking new plants, tracking sales, and generating reports as required.
- Complete other administrative tasks, such as answering phone calls, responding to emails, and scheduling appointments as needed.

5. Teamwork and Collaboration:
- Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions to stay updated on plant and horticulture trends, new products, and best practices.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth operations, coordinate tasks, and maintain a positive work environment.
- Support co-workers during peak periods, such as watering and caring for plants, as well as processing deliveries.

Requirements:

- Previous experience in retail sales, preferably in a nursery or horticultural environment, is highly desirable.
- A strong passion for plants, gardening, and horticulture, with knowledge of various houseplants, seasonal plants, and garden products.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with customers and team members.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining attention to detail and providing exceptional customer service.
- Basic computer literacy and familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems is an advantage.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy plants, stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks related to the maintenance of the nursery.
